Situation
A 224 unit condo complex was just built next to the coffee
company, with balconies located within 15 feet of the afterburner stack. Odor complaints were a regular occurrance due to the proximity of the complex to the coffee company.
Solution Provided
A new afterburrner was installed to alleviate the odorous exhaust from the coffee roaster. The unit was sized for a 45 Kilo roaster. Other sizes in Kilos available are PSC1(12/22), PSC4(45/60) and PSC9(90/120).
EPA - Compliance
The company has received no odor complaints since the unit was installed.
Composites - Roof Shingle Manufacturer
Situation
Existing two RTO canisters were unreliable, undersized and underperforming. Oxidizer was required to abate the emissions from their mat curing line. The equipment needed to be on site and operational within fifteen weeks.
Solution Provided
PEI worked with electrical engineers, plant engineers to make sure that objectives we achieved without disrupting either mat production or the existing RTO’s operation and to ensure the demanding delivery schedule.
EPA - Compliance
The schedule was met; the unit was successfully started up and has met or exceeded all of the facilities operational and air emissions compliance requirements.
Nail-Polish Enamel Manufacturer
Situation
A large manufacturer of nail-polish enamel installed the original oxidizer more than 30 years ago. The facility operated with only a single shift, requiring frequent startups and shutdowns. This took a toll on the heat exchanger tubes and expansion joints. Costly repairs and frequent unscheduled shutdowns were becoming a larger problem.
Solution Provided
Installed a fluidized bed concentrator system to reduce operating costs, improve VOC destruction efficiency and improve system reliability. This translates into a savings of $250,000, in natural gas, in the first year.
EPA - Compliance
Testing was conducted a few weeks after the equipment was fully operational. The results showed that the destruction efficiency of the system was well over the guaranteed 98 percent. This technology allowed the customer to realize natural gas savings in excess of $250,000 during the first year of operation.
