Pro-Environmental is very familiar with the composites industry and the issues associated with lowering styrene emissions. Manufacturers continue to battle styrene emission levels by controlling styrene content in the resins they utilize. Since styrene content affects product quality, however, fabricators are often limited in the extent to which they can utilize this method.

Other methods such as styrene suppressants and controlled spraying are often examined. For the high air volume, low concentration exhausts associated with many of these composites manufacturers, a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) or Concentrator/Oxidizer are often the technologies of choice.

Composites - Roof Shingle Manufacturer
Situation
Existing two RTO canisters were unreliable, undersized and underperforming. Oxidizer was required to abate the emissions from their mat curing line. The equipment needed to be on site and operational within fifteen weeks.
Solution Provided
PEI worked with electrical engineers, plant engineers to make sure that objectives we achieved without disrupting either mat production or the existing RTO’s operation and to ensure the demanding delivery schedule.
